Community Building

I get joy from bringing great humans together in meaningful ways, professionally and for my personal community. I also consult on community and planning gatherings that foster connection. Please feel free to request more information through my contact form.

Why I started and more on different types of gatherings and events I’ve thrown:

I moved to New York knowing no one. I’ve never been as lonely as my first year in Manhattan, trying to find people who got me—people who felt like home.

I finally found my people by saying yes to everything, going to events alone even though that kind of thing felt like crawling out of my skin (at the time), and keeping myself open and believing.

Through this, I met some incredible humans who focused on bringing others together and creating space for intentional connection. I found others who were on a similar life mission as myself—one of creating rather than consuming, choosing kindness over being cold—curious seekers of finding better ways to live than we were made to believe is possible.

During the pandemic, having this community saved me. But I looked around and realized the community builders I knew were gone—they’d moved as New York went through a rough period. And if these community builders I’d come to rely on were no longer here—so who was going to throw the gatherings that had brought so much connection, friendships, and even romances to my life?

I started to realize the answer was that I’d have to create them. I took what I’d learned from these gems of humans and (with a good friend) began a new version. I started to host, and realized I was pretty good at it from the feedback, friendships, partnerships, business relationships, productivity, and creation that came from my various gatherings. I’ve curated breakfasts, dinners, happy hours, mixers, clothing swaps, women’s circles, and virtual events such as: Show & Tell, Pitch Practice, After Hours, Community Coworking, and one of my favorite live gatherings of all—Creative Brunch.

I now serve as Head of Community professionally. I love having a line of work which brings so much connection into my day to day, and allows me to facilitate space for others to go deeper, and find those connections I once worked so hard to come by.
